| Is that a pair of twin chokes I spy. Had a 1953 beetle with a 1600 with a pair of 40mm twin choke solex in the early 70's. Had no end of trouble getting parts for the carbs, kept getting told "Solex don't make downdraught 40mm twinchokes" Some still didn't believe it even when I took the carbs with me. That old Beetle was a real wolf. looked Bleep but 0-60 in just over 7 seconds never had it flat out but had it up to 125mph. And more important when driven properly, on back roads walked away from most. Round Brands quicker than a mini as well. Even had some bikers follow me down the coast road in wales and they said they were just able to keep with me. How I missed that car when I had to part with it. Memories hahaha | |

| ..yeah, they're 44mWeber IDFs; engine is 1955cc producing 118 bhp. I had a beetle with a 2.1 l engine & @ 150 bhp; sold the engine & the guy ran it in a bus , which did 17.45 at Santa Pod on its first run | |
