| A couple of weeks ago I drained the coolant from both cars and filled with fresh antifreeze - 6 litres in all. Left the empty cans in the shed. Went to throw them out today, and noticed that what I thought was concentrate - and had diluted 66/33 - was actually 'ready to use', so already 50% diluted. One engine is all ally and the other has an ally head, so a decent level of corrosion inhibitor is important. It didn't occur to me to check as I never imagined anyone would buy diluted anti freeze, particularly when it costs almost as much as the proper stuff. I am not amused (though I suspect some of you might be). | |

| Good job you noticed soon enough I have learnt the hard way about not having enough mix in a mixed metal engine. Had cylinder head corroded away by electrosis. I now use 50/50 at all times. Also thanks for informing us about ready mixed, something to watch out for. | |

| I only found out last winter that they sell diluted or "ready to use" coolant when I thought I had found a bargain on the web.
I was puzzled as to why anyone would supply or want to buy this diluted.

| I bought some last winter, to put it in the car to top it up, and then realised it was diluted. If I were you I would not drain out all the coolant, leave some in and top it up with the proper stuff. It shouldn't affect the alloy too much to worry about. It is an easy thing to do! | |
