| As you will see I am trying to raise a team to raise money at a Swimathon with 50% of the money raised going to the club's chosen charity so, if the club agrees, and if I can find 2 more swimmers we could support this charity. Keith Daley | |

| I would love to put forward the 1st Margate Boys and Girls Brigade as it means ALOT to me and quite a few of our members are involved in some way. But I know that it is not one that draws as much interest. Even though it is a well deserving youth organisation that doesn't get as much recognition as say the Scouts (who started AFTER the Boys' Brigade I might add). I have had a few email suggestions on the subject the first 2 that I can find at the moment are: Beach Within ReachWe are a very small local charity that provides the beach wheelchairs on Thanets beaches for people of all ages with mobility impairments www.beachwithinreach.org.ukTo keep going we need to raise about £2000 a year, this goes towards wheelchair storage costs, insurance & general expenses. Special Care Baby Unit at the QEQMThe Special Care Baby Unit is a neonatal intensive care unit specialising in the care of ill or premature newborn babies The Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother Hospital in Margate has two high dependency cots, and 14 cots in total. | |

| A thought from me on this ... We are a very local club and have made a huge impact on the locals in the area just from being around... How about we look for a local charity close to home that would see a huge benefit for even a small amount raised by us and something that links us with sea side towns that we are all part of. One that sounds as though it fits my current view on this is the beach within reach charity ... Giving access to somewhere we all take for granted - the beaches of our island. I know from personal experience ( my sister has been in a wheel chair for 35 yrs now) that access to a beach for a wheel chair bound person is under normal circumstances out of the question .... Let's do something about that for local folks and make a visible statement and really boost the awareness of this charity as well as some practical help... So. .... BEACH WITHIN REACH gets my vote | |

Those beach wheelchairs are realy good, used one for Mother a few years back for a visit to Gt Yarmouth for the Sand Carving show on the beach.
No way could we have taken her around the show without one, supplied by the organisers, might have been the same charity. | |
