Hi all,

Im Drew, 22 years old and I'm from Leicester

Came across this forum whilst browsing and I have seen some interesting threads so thought it would be worth joining.

To earn my bread and butter, Im a conventional and cnc machinist / welder/fabricator / general mechanical technician.

I'm really into all things engineering and have done since I was a toddler, but my passion lies in classic cars and 'hot rods'

Got an old ford Model A phaeton Replica and a '38 Austin Ascot at the moment. Had a fair few cars in the past... '34 Ford Model Y, 3 x '27 Ford model T roadsters, Morris Minor Pickup, '35 Austin 10 Lichfield, Ford 100e Anglia, Ford pop sit up and beg, '60s slingshot dragster, 3 x Mk2 VW Golfs and a VW Corrado

Yes mate got a few pics. Not got any on my computer of the Austin, but will be taking pics as I build it.

This is the current Model A Rep, albeit looking quite rough how it sits with it being half-primered and no front grille. Its nearly ready for the road, just need to sort out a brake master cylinder and the fittings for the rear of the fuel line where it meets the new Moon style tank.



This is the Austin 10. ran a 2.3 litre american ford Pinto engine, drop tube front axle, narrowed 9 inch rear axle, totally standard interior.





This is the last of the 3 T's, pinto engine, ford pop front axle, cortina rear axle



This is the 2nd T I had, was the car I have been most proud of as I built it from scratch when I was 14 from lengths of steel, donated parts, earnt parts and a fibreglass shell.





This is it running up the brooklands hill climb, my dad had to drive as I was only 15 so no license!



This is the morris minor pickup. F$*kin Awfully rotten! didnt keep for long...

Thanks a lot Lee, I really regret selling all of the past cars, except for the rotten moggy!!

I don't see why old cars aren't a lot more popular with the 'young'ns' as they're crazy fun and they let you get properly hands on and learn a lot about good, simple engineering.

Its in the blood so I had no choice! Ha!

Both Granddads were into motorbike racing, my dad was a hot rodder since very young and was part owner of a custom car garage in Leicester about 20ish years ago. Dad started to let me drive a few of his old cars from around 11 years old, and as you all know, the classic car bug bites hard!

Here's a few pictures of stuff 'new' and old....

About 2 or 3 weeks into the build...





2 litre pinto engine on 4 speed replaced the 1.6 on auto a few months after being on the road



Ford pop, rover v8 and MG axles, never got finished and most parts got lost when my dad did 'a runner'




60's Slingshot dragster, ford pop front end and a very narrowed austin westminster rear axle. It used to run a 21 stud Ford flathead v8 in the 80's when owned by a friend but I dont know any further history before then. It went seemingly missing for a good number of years then turned out it was around 10 minutes away from my house on a driveway and the owner was willing to sell it!



Ha, it seems this is the only picture I can find of the anglia 100e,



A Ford Model A Pickup me and my dad built. It ran a '55 265ci Small Block Chevy engine which was real cool as it was the first year they ever made the highly renown Small Block v8. When the build was started we built up a Ford V8-60 sidevalve engine for it and had it in and running, but the chevy engine came at a good price and that was a more sensible motor for the car albeit controversial to some people putting a chevy in a ford
