| Jesus my old man probably started his career in one of them.... There's an ex Thanet Ambulance on a K plate which is a camper conversion knocking about which my old man remembers from his first few years working for Kent (having transferred from Nottinghamshire). It's a transit with the V6 Essex engine apparently! Old colleague of his (bloke I used to know as Uncle Bill, sadly passed away a good 15 years ago now) used to use said 'bulance most of the time. I have a fair bit of affection for old Ambulamces having spent many of my early years around them. | |

| Cheers, yer its a bit of a project! It arrived friday and well where do I start, where there is steel, there is rust, but thankfully the chassis is all good, the roof is fibreglass and the sides are aluminium which just leaves the front which is mainly filler. I have whats left of a van version this I am stealing parts from like the wings amd most of the cab. It is kitted out like a camper inside complete with cooker, sink, and net curtains! I have ripped all of it out over the weekend and got it running, and am going to start a fresh again inside. will get some more pics up when i get them off my phone | |

| Cool, do like a retro refitted camper! You should sign up and do a build thread on retrorides. They'll love it there. | |

| Well I have taken out everything, havent quite figured out what I am going to do with it inside, or what colour scheme to go for or anything about what to do inside, have got new brake piping to fit and am going to focus on the mechanicals for now. Then the body work and then the interior and paint.
Anyone seen any nice or different campers that might give me ideas for mine? | |

| Why not finish it as an ambulance on the outside, but with living accommodation. It will then qualify for commercial rallies as well as the rest. | |

| I am not too sure, it would definately look good as an ambulance again. But i keep getting tempted with other colour schemes. I did some work on the clutch last weekend found that the master cylinder was siezed solid, with pleanty of wd40 and some heat I managed to get it all apart and clean it all up and put it back together, made up some new copper piping for it and hopefully it should work! | |
