| Had a DAF 33,Morris Marina estate, FSO POLENEZ estate and an MG Midget come in for scrap over last week! There is also 2 triumph dolomites down the yard that are apparently going to be banger raced!! Now people can see why I get in so much bother with classics as half the time I save them!! Unfortunately the above were not worth salvaging! Lucky too as I have no room now!!! |

| Yesterday, we had another midget, a very very sad looking mini and until it got knocked about by a fork lift, a very very tidy local low mileage Renault 18 America!! You don't see them anymore and although they are not the most glamourously car, this one would have been worth saving!! |

| Most are beyond repair Tom by the time they have been knocked around being loaded/unloaded, it is sometimes possible to save them for Parts but it doesn't happen offen!! |

| I tried to negotiate with Lings on a couple of occasions in the past when Westwood Fire Station had old cars on loan from them for accident training. I offered to supply alternative cars so I could rescue them and all sorts but it was no good. The official line I got was once it became their property it was considered an enviromental hazzard and legally had to be crushed. To do otherwise would give them a major headache. Its a real shame | |

By the time they get to the fire stations, we have already depolluted the cars and issued certificates of destruction so they are completely warranted the cars as scrap only. Had the pleasure of delivering a beetle to deal fire station last year, and even more pleasure picking it up seeing it completely mutilated!!! |

| This week....another beetle :-) , two mGB gt's, Toyota celica gt4 turbo, 1976 Toyota celica fastback, 1975ish daihatsu 4x4, a mint 89 xj6 and a complete lotus éclat, which had it's v5 scrapped a bit hastily meaning it was too late for me to save it! :-( such a sham as it is a very tidy car!! I think it is of about 1977 ish vintage but may be wrong!! So to sum up then, another good week for beetle dislikers, not such a good week for other classic marques!! |

| What was the celica fastback like? They are a nice looking car. Shame the GT4 turbo went as well, they are super cheap and very quick. Nearly bought one last year but saw sense at the last minute! | |
