HI All.
Seems wrong that my first post should be a for sale post but it's just turned out that way, Mark [crew cab 107 on here] popped round mine to collect some bits for his project last Sunday. Mark told me about this site so Monday morning I joined, Sunday morning we had our first viewing on this house this year, Monday afternoon they made an offer which we accepted and now we're moving to Lincolnshire. Met Mark, joined site and sold house in two days, weird.
Right the properties we're gonna see won't have workshops until I've built them, we have so much stuff to take, organise, sort out that taking a project [having to hire a 4x4 and trailer] just is hassle I don't need.
My HY van [ex French Fire Brigade] is now for sale at exactly the same price as I bought it for which is £1750, I bought it from a guy who lives in Brighton, he had a bike business in the South of France and used the van there. When he packed up he drove it back to the UK and put it in for an MOT where it failed on the following.
Door mirror insecure
All tyres naff
Front wheel nut missing
Brake pedal rubber cover missing
N/S front brake little or no effort
N/S Track rod end has excessive play
N/S Front suspension lower ball joint has excessive play
Offside Front suspension lower ball joint has excessive play
That's what's on the fail sheet here but to be honest there's plenty more things I'd want to check out and improve on before re submitting it.
The chassis is good underneath but there's plenty of little bits that want some welding [not chassis], both rear wheel tubs inside I'd change as badly dented and some rot but a relatively easy fix, there's a few bits around the body but they're all flat bits so easy to make.
I've been into VW's for around 15 years and when I saw this I thought simple, easy fix, only because I've paid much more money for splitty's and bays in far worse condition.
This motor has a good strong diesel engine that starts on the button and is going to make a fantastic camper, they're also quite rare which makes them a little more special.
I have ton's of links to parts suppliers, forums, techy pages, stuff that I've collected over the time I've had this motor that I'll quite happily share with anyone that wants the info.
Did I mention the suicide doors!
Here's some pic's, vans in Chatham Kent and I may swap for an estate car/4x4 of the same value.
Thanks for looking
Brian.
