| Well, I thinks its about time for me to start my little project diary! Well I bought my splitty 2 weeks and 3 days ago! I have spent nearly every day so far working on it so far. My splitty is a 1962, LHD (Italian Import), it has bullet front indicators and a small rear window and 11 Windows. It is believed to have been used as a coffin/body carrier for an undertakers in Italy, it also used to have a gas conversion fitted. The splitty still has the original engine and cross ply tyres on it! Below are some pictures from when I first got it! And here are some from when we got it back to the garage. I will get some pictures up of how it looked after one week and after two weeks soon! Until then any questions, queries, advice, etc, etc, I would love to hear them! ~Lee Some more pictures of it so far Enjoy! More pics! Took of tailgate and started sanding down, also managed to get some primer on the right hand side, as I have got rid of the six foot deep paint. Can now see the dents clearly, there is a really nice one in cargo doors! Looking for new cargo door if anyone one has any good ones going? Almost cut all the floor out yesterday! Looks quite solid underneath! Not had many comments on here! I'm quite upset! I guess no one loves me!! Ohh and here is another picture of it primered with the tailgate on! Enjoy Well got to work again today and decided to start taking bits off it because I am fed up of sanding, so we took the back bumper off to discover some mysteries. The RH rear corner was removed (fell off) as it was already rusty, well so we thought, it was actually made of filler and while we had the corner out we had a look at the battery tray, which we thought was solid until we found out that it was too completely made of filler, so that was quickly removed. Anyways here are some pictures! Enjoy The HOLE where the corner was. The corner that was once there, held together by carbon fibre and paint The battery tray Ohh I also did some tidying up and took over some racks in my Dad's garage. Yes I know its been a long time since my last update, but you know I have been busy! Just started sixth form and well haven't had much time, but anyways here it goes! I have done lots of paint stripping! The roof had about 600 layers of paint on and was a pain in the back side to get off but its almost done! More floor came out! Also found these red chevrons wondered what they were for? Thought it was a bit unusual! Decided to see if the engine would run on Thursday night! Dad got it going, runs quite well! So we then decided to take it out. Been round the garage I've had the fuel tank out and been spraying some red on to see how it looks! Ohh yeah roof is now bare metaled!! More photos in my photobucket album!! https://s120.photobucket.com/albums/o162/Lee_be_here/1962%20Split%20Screen%20Camper

| Well, I haven't updated for ages so thought I would! This is how she is looking! (with me looking dumb!) So what have I been doing on her, Spent I reckon 12 hours, filling and primering it to get it straight. About 90% done, gave it a coat of Halfords illuminous yellow to see what it looked like in paint and it came out lime green, but never mind still don't look too bad! And then I decided to look at the pitting all around the edge of the roof, now its been baremetalled, a skim of filler to fill up the holes from the pitting and then primed it, don't look bad gonna need a few more coats to get it looking decent! Well time for some more pics/update! Me and Dad got trigger happy with the grinder on Saturday when we had no work in and here is the result! We have some of the chassis bits to repair it and I am hoping the rest of the parts have arrive today or will do tomorrow so we can get on with it tomorrow night! I did a bit black primering to the sides and sanding to see how its looking! Not too bad shouldn't take much to get straight, really happy! Enjoy! ~Lee Ok some parts are here, seems like an airfix kit to me (and have still got a few big panels left to order :p Enjoy! Looks happier with the whole thing in some sort of paint! ~Lee Well me and my Dad have seen sunshine and somehow we have got back in to the camper, I have spent the last week or so cleaning up the chassis rails, what a job, cleaning the insides was so difficult, but its almost done and Dad started on repairing the chassis rails, all of the rest of the chassis panels I have ready to be welded in as soon as its repaired! So here are some pics to keep you all happy! Will post pics of the welding when finished! ~Lee Ok more work, most of the chassis is welded up and the long side is off! also repairing the bottom of the bulkhead! Pictures speak a thousand words! Enjoy any questions just ask! ~Lee Ok update a bit late but never mind! Will get more pictures tomorrow cause don't seem to have taken many! Front beam bare metaled Front left wheel arch cut off and new arch ready to be fitted (just gotta bare metal the inside of the arch first and rear left inner wheel arch bare metaled Pictures tomorrow! ~Lee Only clamped but OMG I love it! needs a few adjustments to make perfect but won't be long! HAHA ~Lee Another update here! We decided after looking at the dents in the corner and how the bottom needed changing any ways to change the whole corner up to the swage swage line! So off came the corner and a new battery tray was fitted and a few repairs to the wheel arch etc. And then we offered up the corner and side to see how it fits! (Not bad) needs a few adjustments and now we are just waiting for the glue to arrive! Really wanna get it done!! Have a little problem that we are not sure on how to repair so any advice/help etc! Are there any panels for this part (I think not) or now would you repair it? Will post this in technical too! Here is a picture. ~Lee Another little update! Decided to replace the bottom of the front panel! So it began! The panel to go in! Autocraft! Start of A post repair! ~Lee A bit more welded on! On a SUNDAY!!! Working on a Sunday isn't good! (except when its for the split) Enjoy! ~Lee OK front left wheel arch and floor in, needs a bit of cleaning up and all in! And then on Wednesday night we did this! And left (with very stained hands from the sixaflex ) ~Lee Right corner in grey primer! Then we began on the side! Glue on That was easy! Angle Grinder out again as I had nothing to do! While Dad was underneath sorting out a bit of chassis that wasn't quite finished, I decided to cut the right hand side out! Wheel arch corner and side mostly out! Also been having a bit of a play with colour but still no closer to deciding! ~Lee Sorry for lack of updates but here we go! About two weeks a go, me and Dad fancied something different to do. So we stripped the gearbox and engine from the rear chassis it was attached to! Then we decided that we needed to crack on with the split Tuesday night! We jacked the front up! Ran a scaffold pole through where the beam mounts and then lowered it onto axle stands, we then did the same for the rear. Then it got lowered down on to a trailer, very scarily! And wheeled into the main workshop and onto one of the ramps ~Lee https://s120.photobucket.com/albums/o162/Lee_be_here/1962%20Split%20Screen%20Camper/Right all of my parcels arrived the other day! C&C Stainless harp mirror arms x 2 (not cheap!!) 2 mirrors Fitting kits and clips for mirrors Stainless bottom door pins Heater tube Post up to swage behind cargo doors Autocraft Short Side (Right) Rear Corner (Right) For some reason they didn't put the light hole in, although in the last one they did, rang them and they don't usually put the light hole in?!!!!??? Engine lid hinge panel I haven't been round the garage for a week, but Dad has been cleaning it up and trying to line up my new panels and it looks sweet! Should be getting them welded/glued on by the end of the week! That wire brush has already been binned! It killed mine and a friends grinder! Just to say I am still working on the split, just still bare mettalling and it is doing my head in! But not much longer now! Sixaflex should be arriving tomorrow so we can start thinking about sticking the r/h/s corner and side! | |

| Just a quick update, still been bare metaling the engine bay when I get the chance, its knackering and very very dusty! But managed to get these spotwelded back on just need to attach the top and bottom of the post now! Also one of my Dad's friends bought this in the other day, I love it, he said he will do me a proper one when its finish, he did it all from memory so I am impressed with the detail, even the side panel chucked in the back! Well another few nights round the garage and we now have the right hand side corner and side glued on, we first tried gluing the corner on with a cheap sixaflex copy which was a bad idea, after it being "glued" on for 3 days my Dad pulled it back off again and the glue hadn't set, so my recommendation for today is buy real sixaflex its only a couple of quid more a tube and millions of times better. Anyways I took these pics before we glued it, but this gives you the gist! Ohh yeah also wacked a bit of high build primer on just to tidy it up and keep the damp air off the bare metal! ENJOY Right we weren't feeling brave enough to do the front, so after spending all this time getting the rest of it right we thought we better get someone who knows what they are doing to do the lower front! So he came into today and this is his progress! . I am well happy with the results, he is coming back on the 4th of January to fill the whole front and prep it for paint, I am also talking to him about doing the lower windscreen repairs as well! Ohh yeah on Saturday at work, so much of the work turn up that we decided to build ourselves an assistant for the camper! He has all the right tools Right hello and happy new year, I am now 18 and there is some more progress on the splitty! As the metal work is nearing an end we have had our man back in today to fit the lower windscreen and to being filling the front! He will be back again at the end of the week, so expect more progress then. More updates soon! Ok here is yet another installment! Front panel and lower windscreen are now ready for primer. Repairs on side windows have started! Here they are so far! R/H/S front floor now welded in. And have began cleaning off all the primer/rattle cans ready for it to go down for preping! More updates very soon! Sorry for the lack of updates guys, been really busy trying to get everything back to metal for the respray. I am having a chat with the guys who are spraying the split tomorrow about time scale, colour etc etc, so should have a definite date it will be going down the them soon! Really excited about this! Anyways what I have been upto! Mostly everything is going back to bare metal and here is my progress. Rear hatch (I picked up from Sweet Rides last year) Engine Lid (going to need a few repairs ) Cab Doors (going to need a lot of repairs! Got some panels and bits to repair on the way!) Cargo door skins have finally arrived from Autocraft (I ordered them before Christmas) ohh and inner bottom repairs I haven't got any other pics cause they are already down the sprayers getting the skins and inner on. Started on the dash, steering wheel removed (with an angle grinder, it weren't moving!) Rear Valance Engine bay being flattened off Also, some filling has started on the body to get rid of any imperfections! A little bit of welding! (floor is now in!) The start of my plans for the bulkhead! Also got my bit of rear shelf to repair mine! Well that's a big update, hope you enjoyed it! ~Lee | |

| Just a quick update to let you know I am working my arse off to get it ready for the sprayer for Monday the 1st of March. (Well actually the night of the Sunday but yeah) More flattening off and baremetalling. Doing around doors, the dash is almost done, under seat base is flattened off, roof is bare metalled, rear shelf repaired and my bulkhead mods done. Just got interior and loads of little bits to do now. Front beam/flipped spindles (done by us) on and gearbox etc all temporary to get it down the sprayers, all being ripped out when its back! Pics! Ohh floor safe is also built, will get a pic tomorrow! ~Lee Well this weekend was rather long and after Sunday night was lashing it down, we took the splitty down to the sprayers this evening! Here are pics of what we got upto this weekend! Our ramp turned into a work bench! All turned round and ready to go! Hooked up on the truck And into the sprayers! Unseen Projects. Pics of the floor safe for who was interested! This is a pretty cool thing! Just another little update to show you what has been going on down the sprayers! Doesn't look a lot but they have had to make major repairs to all 4 doors and the engine lid, the rear hatch needed a bit of filler but is almost there! Few pics! And Vince posing to show what bits have been cut off this door I bought for use on mine! He did offer to pose nude, but those pics wouldn't be suitable for the web! ~Lee Just to show you how its getting on! This was taken earlier today, doors etc are all fully welded and are being filled etc and are almost done. Roof is pretty much finished and a bit of the top half! More updates soon! And another few pics, the whole thing in primer. Arches and engine bay getting primered this week! Just been down the sprayers so that we could have a final check on the body work to see if we are 100% happy with it! Needs a few little bits now and then will be getting some colour!! They reckon a couple more weeks till we get it back! Longer than I wanted but I am not going to rush them, want it mint! Here are some pics! ~Lee | |

| Taken me a bit of a while to post this! Inside and structure of rear draws! What's in one of my rear draws, with stainless heat shield (Green cooker is going in exchange for a red one, really green isn't doing it for me!) Rear cupboards Perfect size for Cherry Coke! X2 and in they go! (Simple eh) Gas Struts! Very COOL! I then went on a bit of shopping trip! 3 Pairs of these 3", 4" and 5" A 12" one of these! Vibe Slick Two amps kindly donated to the cause, by some friends! Ohh and some wiring! (Other amp is Fusion) So Mark had to make this hole for the sub and a perfectly sized Sub Box (you can see it on the rear shelf in pictures above) These holes for the speakers (one pair going in door cards) And he has also made a draw for inside the flap at the bottom of the TV Cabinet And something he is playing with for behind the front seats! (Bit of a rubbish Picture) How she looks at the moment to keep me going, more than anything! ~Lee | |
