Walls lined, drafts blanked but still plenty of ventilation.
Bodywork ready, Wish I hadn't rushed it but the body comes off easy enough so can be sorted on a later date.

Wings, lights, electrics all went back on so quick, day and a half, I forgot to take progress photos.

Note the woodrim steering wheel Laughing Laughing Shocked Cardboard Rolling Eyes

Thought I had lost the original wheel so had to try and get another.
Found one on fleebay, but was too big, turned out to be 16 inch my old one was 15 inch Less Leston woodrim.
But that was not the problem it was the centre hub, try as I could no one had a hub to suit my steering column.
Had given up and was going to have to make a new column when I found it in a chest poked away in the corner of my shed.

My DLM rebuild (photo heavy) - Page 2 Dscf8810

The wheel centr/hub as can be seen is also a hybrid to the car, at least no one seems to have seen one like it before.
My DLM rebuild (photo heavy) - Page 2 Dscf8813

And the wheel, it is a woodrim but it started to split so I had to lace it with leather.

When I mentioned the Christmas cruise he sounded very interested.
The Photographer is freelance and contributes to a number of magazines.
So with some luck the word will go round.

This one is 16 inch the tother is 15 but later found to still be a bit tight.
To be sorted later

So now booked in for MOT, a steering wheel I could get behind more easily.
Two day to MOT BLEEP head gasket blew AAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHH
When the head was removed just a pair of copper plates no innards.
So it was thought to be because it was old, it had been in the box of bits, but still original wrapping.
So MOT Cancelled new gasket ordered and fitted MOT re booked for the following Sunday.
MOT
Sailed through AAAGGGGGGGHHHHH then this on the way home

My DLM rebuild (photo heavy) - Page 2 0112
My DLM rebuild (photo heavy) - Page 2 0311

The Aquaplane head was found to be too far gone for repair, so the trip to Conningsby was cancelled.

First time I've opened their page, CCW that is.

Have a look through it first, I find it's more an advertising paper.
Tony bought one nudge nudge etc.

I quite agree, its mainly adverts,
but why is it so expensive? they must make a packet from ads so surely by dropping the price it would increase sales.
or am I missing something Smile

Another day another, enough of that CR&^
So Second head gasket blew, thought “oh fiddle sticks“, or go forth and multiply. or similar.
Head was removed and taken to a specialist in Romford, Gosneys engineering.
"Might be able to re-metal but can't guarantee it will take, the head has been re-metal once before.
The price for the "Maybe" job was about half the price of a new head so not worth the worry of waiting for it to blow again.
So stand the car up and start saving the pennies??
Who's a lucky fellow then.
Rob, the neighbour who got me going again, has three spare engines for his Ford 103e Pop.
So he loaned me a head from one to get me running, Not as pretty as the ally head but it runs.

My DLM rebuild (photo heavy) - Page 2 0113
My DLM rebuild (photo heavy) - Page 2 0212

Replaced his Cylinder head with one from an auto jumble for £20, £330 cheaper than an Aquaplane head.

Back on the road.
The first Long trip was down to Thorney Island, Portsmouth. 130 miles
Found the car to be running a bit rich so when in traffic it was coughing and spluttering due to fouled plugs.
Was accompanied by a friend with his camper
My DLM rebuild (photo heavy) - Page 2 0312

Stripped out to do running maintenance, note the feet
Flintstone eat your heart out.
My DLM rebuild (photo heavy) - Page 2 0411
My DLM rebuild (photo heavy) - Page 2 0510

We ran together in case I broke down, I got there and back he broke down on the return trip.
Been there myself following a sick car home, he did I didn't

Two rebuild kit for the SU's later, a tune up all seemed ok.

Then the gearbox dumped its oil.
My DLM rebuild (photo heavy) - Page 2 0612
My DLM rebuild (photo heavy) - Page 2 0710

Missing a thrower ring, well most of it
Found a bit of chewed metal
On the old E93 gearbox, and engine, there is no 'oil seals' as such just oil throwers.
New part fitted , to date so far so good.
