| Found this on the internet sums it all up really! who wants usefulness or practicality in a vehicle as opposed to old, technologically outdated, unreliable, under powered, over priced cars. They are not exactly the definition of "useful" under any circumstance. We drive/like these 'cause they just look cool. Nothing else. It's made me think though! Why do you have a classic? | |

| So many reasons for me. Like so many classic owners my love of older cars was shaped by what was about when I was a child and the sort of family cars I had. I have a fondness for all old motors visually from this time. In terms of using them, I just dont have any love for the soulless euro boxes and korean matchboxes that everyone drives these days. I have driven loads of new cars over the years and whilst they are comfortable, economical blah blah I dont feel any connection with them. You know your driving a classic, it puts you in touch with everything without all the computerised junk in the way! Its a rawer experience but feels like your actually engaging with the car more. You stand out from the crowd in a classic. People will see your car and love it or hate it they will see it as different to everyone else. People will recognise you in a classic ( Just look at our spotted section ). I also love to be able to fix things for myself and get busy with the spanners from time to time. You can't do it with a modern car! And finally there is meeting like-minded people (like you guys!) who love gather and chat about old motors. Everyone who is into classic cars has a respect for other classic drivers. Every time im out in my series landie and I see another landie you can guarantee they will give you a wave and a smile......you just dont get that in a Daewoo matiz!! | |

| Well said! Classic cars are more fun and nicer to look at than modern plastic. I drive mine because I want to look good when being towed by the aa | |

| I drive a classic because its easy to find in a carpark. Unlike the wind tunnel desiged jelly mould cars it sits next to. After all it doesn't matter if a wind tunnel is in Japan, France or Margate the results are the same. But seriously when I drive a classic I really feel I'm the driver not the computer, you can feel the road, the car talks to you. When things go wrong you can repair it, and people want to talk to you. Best of all it makes driving fun and unpredictable. | |
