| Hello, Hello, Hello,
Hope your all okay?
I have been at a meeting today with the events organiser from the dreamland Margate project about the idea of organising a classic car event at Dreamland! She was very interested and in a short amount of time we managed to make a rough plan of what we would like to do.
Details, The day would begin at around 2-4pm ish, with classic cars being welcome to park in the dreamland site, explore the local area or take in some acts that we are hoping to organise, probably bands but all that is tbc. We will also be having a traders area, an autojumble, food stalls etc etc The main part of the event will start at around 8pm with the showing of a drive in movie. Which I think, is a very individual idea and unlike anything I have seen before. The film that we decided almost definitely had to shown was Grease, its a classic and its where our idea for a drive in movie came from. Tickets will cost £12 per car on the day or £10 pre-booked. If you think about this a car show usually costs £5+ and cinema is usually £6+ per person. A bargain I hope you will agree.
The film showing will be primarily open to classic cars, with them receiving the closest spots to the screen. Ideally it would be great to fill the whole car park up with classics but as we realise this is unrealistic we will be opening the back end of the carpark to the general public who can buy tickets for their car on the day.
We are planning on doing this for hopefully Saturday 22nd of October, as it gets dark earlier and normally has half decent weather. Although if it rains we would still be able to watch the film from the comfort of our cars.
That's the plan, I will try and create an image of a rough plan of how we would set the car park if this goes ahead.
What do you think, constructive criticism is appreciated etc etc because without YOU and other classic car owners we cannot make this a success!
DISCUSS!
~Lee

| Sounds good Lee, I would definetly be interested in taking part. I have managed to avoid ever having seen grease so I supose that would be the perfect time to actually watch it. My girlfriend loves it so I think she would enjoy coming along. | |

Yeah I have had a lot of worries about the date, I think moving it forward a month would be a sensible option, but it depends on the venue etc etc. We shall see, thanks for the comment! ~Lee

Why not American Graffiti? Far more yank cars in that! I define classic cars as anything over 25 years old, but already in the club we have multiple cars that don't adhere to that rule, but am I bothered no! Because cars can be a classic in their own right. As long as its old skool and the owner is enthusiastic then its cool with me! So many people have suggested American Graffiti. I must watch it! ~Lee

I don't think organising it as a fortnightly thing is possible as the costs involved are quite high. But hopefully doing it more than once will be on the cards depending on the success. ~Lee
